Building Grasshopper definitions often involves placing a component first and then connecting it to the previous step. In larger workflows, repeatedly stopping to search for components can interrupt the design process.
Rhino Beta introduces a faster way to continue a definition directly from an active wire. Begin dragging a connection from any input or output grip in Grasshopper, then press the SPACEBAR while the wire is still active.
A pop-up menu will appear with a selection of compatible parameters and components. You can choose one of the suggested options or begin typing to search for the specific component you need. Once selected, the new component is automatically placed and connected to the active wire.
For example, you can drag a wire from the result of a Multiplication component, press the SPACEBAR, search for Division, and place it already connected to the definition. In addition, the same workflow can be used to add a Panel or another compatible component quickly.
This feature reduces unnecessary clicks and keeps the workflow moving as you build a definition. Rather than placing, positioning, and connecting each component separately, you can search and insert the next step directly from the wire.
